What It Takes to Build a Deck in Minnesota
Minnesota’s freeze-thaw cycles are hard on a deck, which is why proper footings matter. Footings need to go below the frost line so frost heave doesn’t shift your deck over the winter. Our building season is shorter than in warmer states, so the best time to plan is early. Reaching out in winter or early spring gives you the best chance of enjoying your new deck this summer.
We know a deck is a big investment, and that you’ll be living with the result for years. That’s why we take the time to answer every question, explain your options without pressure, and keep you updated from the first visit to final cleanup. If your plans change mid-project, we’ll adjust with you.

After a tornado ripped a large section of shingles off my roof, I was dealing with water getting into my basement from that area, along with an old chimney that hadn't been properly sealed. I started the insurance claim process, which was already stressful enough, and after a long battle with insurance, I began reaching out to contractors for quotes.
I had FOUR different contractors come out before Puetz, and every single experience left me more frustrated than the last. Whether it was a lack of communication, unwillingness to work with insurance, or simply not taking the time to answer my questions, I was completely exhausted by the process. I had reached the point where I was ready to settle for the "least horrible" contractor just to get the project done and over with.
Then came Puetz Construction!
I had actually forgotten that I had scheduled a consultation with them. At that point, I figured it was just another quote, and if they turned out like the others, I didn't have to move forward.

He spent hours with me, explaining everything from the work that needed to be done to why certain things needed to be handled a specific way. He even asked to review my insurance statement and took the time to walk through it with me so I could better understand everything.
